Pastor Karen is grateful for the opportunity to answer the call to Pastoral Ministry and Servant Leadership at Dawsey United Methodist Church. Answering this call has given her life renewed focus and clarity of purpose. She loves the Lord and her sincere desire is to serve Him and the members of Dawsey!
She began her pastoral preparation by completing the Lay Servant/Lay Speaker program. This enabled her to be a part of the Pulpit Supply program for the United Methodist Church. After completion of this program, she was called to Pastoral Ministry. She then completed the Local Pastor Program in order to begin as a pastor of a church in the Florence District. She is continuing her education at Duke Divinity School in the Course of Study Program.
Pastor Karen works part-time as an Optometrist in Florence and is married to Jack who is also a local pastor. They are proud parents to one daughter and two dogs!
Nancy has been the Music Director at Dawsey since 2011. Prior to coming to Dawsey she was the pianist at Calvary Baptist in Florence for fifteen years and at two churches in Georgia for twelve years.
She enjoys planning music for the worship services including hymns, both old and new, praise and worship songs, and some contemporary music.
She is a retired administrator from Florence District One, and in addition to her work at Dawsey, stays very busy directing the handbell choir at Calvary, doing volunteer work in the community, and spending time with her husband, two daughters, and four grandchildren.
